My mum can't make to the birth of my first child like I always imagined she would be, therefore I felt really happy that my partners mum and my best friend will be there in suite. However, my partner believes that if anyone especially my friend who is more of a stranger to him is in the room it will ruin the moment for him. I'm assuming he means the first moment of meeting our son.

or:Its nice he wants to be there. However, since its you in labor and you doing the breathing and the pushing and the sweating and the need for calmness and feeling supported and the need for no additional stress it is my opinion that your choice far out weighs his in this matter. There are options and one of them is that people can be in the labor room but not delivery room or during delivery. Another one is that anyone who is not the father step back against the walls and away from the bed when the baby begins to crown and dad has the space to greet junior. It's simple and not a big deal of everyone in or everyone out.Congratulations!
