Is there alot of Poverty in Bulgaria ?

So its a couple day untill i go and i wanted to know if i will witness alot of Poverty, i fly into Varna, is Varna nice ? Then i stay in Golden Sands,

So its a couple day untill i go and i wanted to know if i will witness alot of Poverty, i fly into Varna, is Varna nice ? Then i stay in Golden Sands, but i know Golden Sands is nice. What places should i avoid ? And also how would i avoid food poising cause i hears theres alot of bad food in Bulgaria ?

or:I have spoken to my cousin & husband who have worked & lived in Romania & visted/passed through Bulgaria for you. They said the country is poor & outside of the torist area influence there are villages with wells for water, horses & carts travelling on dirt tracks (main roads tarmac'd though). The people living in these rural areas are welcoming, hospitable, happy so are rich where it counts! government is still in transition from the old communist structure & mafia types are playing for power (as per Russia). Tourist areas are well governed for the Tourists wellbeing & future income!They said that visiting Sophia was not worth while, & overall viewed Romania as more developed than Bulgaria.As for things to do in Varna, not been there, but the web site \"Trip advisor\" gives good selection & reviews.Hope this of some help & have a good time
