Just had my first period but I think somethings wrong? Im scared!!?

i thought i had started my period today, like a really heavy flow. it was up my thighs and all over my vagina and on my pyjama boxers too.. so i cleaned myself up, and put a pad on and thought it was okay.. but it keeps on bleeding? i masturbate with a shower head quite often and with my finger and im scared that could have done something bad.. when i checked the blood was brownish and dark but since i put the pad on and it's still been bleeding it's more of a brighter red... by the way im 13 if that means anything.... whats happening?

or:Yes, that's your period. During your first year or so on your period, it can be quite irregular. You shouldn't worry about it, everything sounds normal. Be sure to tell your parents you started and good luck. :)
or:It is unusual that your first period would be that heavy, but It doesn't sound like you injured yourself masturbating. Periods typically last for 5-7 days and during that time you will have constant bleeding. No stopping. Everyone is different when it comes to menstruation. I'm sure your just fine.
