Keyboard on laptop not working?

My laptops keyboard has not been working for a few weeks now and everytime you press on a key it makes a weird clicking sound. The laptop is new, a dell laptop and the newest update of Windows, which I update a couple hours ago. I can use the touch screen keyboard, but I'd rather not. I haven't spilled anything on the keyboard or damaged the laptop in anyway. Everything else on the keyboard works perfectly fine, and SOMETIMES while logging into the laptop the keyboard works, then stops working right when I log in. Help would be appreciated. :)
** PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT looking for a way to get rid of the laptop, I want a way to fix the keyboard.
