Grizzled private eye or ex cop has dreams about a young blonde woman in white sun dress, then gets phone calls from her. She sounds scared and very far away, but her decides to help but doesn't have much to go on.

There's a demon or creature that comes out of virtual reality...I think, and it either possesses people or allows them to get rid of their inhibitions and there's a chapter with a guy who goes nuts at his wife's garden party whilst stark naked.

I remember that there was something to do with looking in the corner of a room/ceiling and seeing the corner bend inwards as the demon/creature came though.

Any ideas?
