Love, but waiting through college???

I have been in love with the same girl since I was a freshman in high school. I am now graduated from high school and going to college. She didn't seem to notice me until sophomore year when we had an amazing art class together. We would flirt all the time, but she had a boyfriend who was older than her. We exchanged numbers, they broke up, and we talked constantly. We ended up dating for about nine months, and I was the happiest I have ever been... but it fell apart.
We didn't talk for almost four or five months, but I would always ask her friends how she was doing, to make sure she was okay. I later found out she was doing the same thing for me. We are now good friends again and I love her more than anything in the world. I think she might love me too; however, she does not want to start a relationship before I start college about nine hours away. I have thought very seriously about not going to this college so I can stay in town and be with her, but I also want to do what's best for me.
I am also thinking about a possible future with her, which means I want to go to this very good college to get a degree in engineering; a field in which many higher paying jobs are available. If I do this, I could end up supporting her and any possible family we might have. I also love everything to do with engineering, and would be excited for work everyday.
I want to marry this girl someday. I would even ask her to right now, but I know it would make things even more difficult. I have never wanted to date another girl; she is the love of my life. I am really struggling with how to cope with waiting to be with her because even though we are close, she could still end up seeing other guys over the time we are in college. I do love her enough that I would let her go be with someone if he is the right guy for her, but I can't be with another girl.
Sorry for the long story, but I need help finding a way to wait. Thanks

or:You need to talk to her about your feelings. Don't push her. Find out where you stand with her. Go to the college you had planned to go to in the first place. Following her is not a good idea. You have a future ahead of you no matter what happens. With or without her you will have rent, lights and food to buy. I hope it works out the way you want it to. Sounds like you would be a good catch.

You will still have rent, lights and food to buy with or without her. Ultimately, it's going to be a decision the two of you make. I hope it works out the way I know you want it to. or:tell her what youre feeling. get some advice from your parents or a sibling :)

or:Thanks for the input! it really helped and we have talked recently about it... she doesn't want to wait but her parents are very controlling of who she dates, and they won't give her space from her old boyfriend. she doesn't want to be with him, but i think i will be okay with the wait knowing she cares for me very much. thanks!
