My arm gets paralyzed when I sleep, what do you think is wrong?

Lately when I go to sleep, I wake up in the middle of the night. My arm is paralyzed, I can't move it nor feel it. After a few minutes it wakes up and hurts like hell. I have never cut my circulation off that bad before until recently. The thing is when I wake up there is no sign that I was sleeping on it at all. Does anyone know what might be happening?
