My cat tore his toe nail and although it is swollen, which can be a sign of infection, it doesn't seem to be in this case because it happened almost immediately. There are no other signs of infection. I have wrapped it and cleaned it with antiseptic. He does favor it quite a bit when he walks. Should I take him to the vet? Should I continue to clean it and monitor it a bit more? How do I get the swelling to go down? How do I keep him rested? Does it sound infected to you?

or:Personally, I'd go see the vet or at least give them a call. Whilst advice is helpful occasionally, it fails to cover thorough examinations, caveats and medicine. Don't mind paying a bit for that peace of mind.
