My fiancee might be getting custody of his daughter?

So, I am freaking out because my fiancee was called to court concerning his daughter he found out about a few years ago. Now we were in the process of getting ready to move, as the place we work for is closing. He originally had no rights because of the grandmother who raised her, ( and all still in Louisiana) neither did the mother. So from what the mother told her and understood there is a 50/50 chance he might get her. Not only is he stressed I know but I am too because after 6 years I don't know if I am ready, but I love him too much to not be there for him and her. I don't know how the laws are too, but from when my mother went through this with my father, they had to look at how each could provide for me. I just feel so lost...any advice?

or:I would want to make sure you have the means to take care of her before taking her that would be better way of planning you have to show the courts that you can take care of her plus its getting if you don't think you can do this i would sit down and talk about it.
