Okay, so I've been having this problem for months now and NOBODY can seem to help me, but here goes nothing. About a Year ago, I got a new internet service provider, this was significant for me because up until this point I had always had satellite internet which is horrible. Anyway, I started playing games online with my ps4 with no issues at all. Occasionally it might lag a bit, but nothing that would make it unplayable.

One day, however, a few months ago, I tried getting online to play a game but my PlayStation kept telling me "NAT type failed, connection timeout". I looked up solutions to the problem including: 1. Restarting my router, 2. Getting a new router (which I have done 4 times now), and 3. Port forwarding. Each time, nothing works. I finally decided, after all of my failed attempts, to call my ISP and ask them what the issue is. However, the IT guys that work for this company (which is a smaller company, mind you), had never heard of NAT type before and could not help me whatsoever.

I'm tired of searching for an answer to this, and I'm confused as to why this issue occurred in the first place. Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated.

or:Network Address Translation (NAT) is the ability of a router to translate a public IP address to a private IP address and vice versa. It adds security to the network by keeping the private IP addresses hidden from the outside world. ... Once the ports are successfully opened, the NAT Type will change to Open or Moderate.Linksys Official Support - Resolving NAT type issues with gaming ...www.linksys.com/ca/support-article?articleNum=136980That was the first result in a Google search, and there are 78 million more links. Several on the first page addressed \"How to change your NAT type\". So it looks like you will have to become the local expert on this subject.
