Been invited to my sister's husband's sister's house for christmas day. dreading it!Nice people but we have nothing in common. ive only been invited out of pity/obligation because im single. if i say no, it will cause offence. usual excuses like working/seeing friends wont work on xmas day. would rather just chill at home. How can I get out of it?

or:Tell them no because you don't have anything in common with them and to h*ll with their offense. Offense is not caused, they have to take it. Their choice is not your fault.

or:Do you have other family to spend Christmas with? Even if not, just say you do. Or worse case say you can come and then a few hours before the party call saying you're sick and can't make it. If you lie on your back with your head hanging off the side of your bed then you sound more congested.
