Question about company website (GoDaddy/WordPress)?

My company has a website. It appears to be hosted on Go Daddy. It also appears to be a WordPress 3.3.1 this is all I know at the time.
I was asked to make some updates, I was able to log in to our admin page however when I do so I see a side bar but the rest is blank. I can't edit or do anything so I'm assuming from my limited knowledge that I am missing something to fully have access.
This site was set up in 2012 and maintained for a couple years. However, it got left dormant because of staff changes. No one currently working here has ever accessed it.
Any help or tips would be much appreciated! We need access to the site but I do not know where to start.
