Should I add her on FB to talk to her?

So a friend of mines whos friends with this girl I know from my school told me she finds me cute and told me to "holla" at her. Haha. But the thing is

So a friend of mines who's friends with this girl I know from my school told me she finds me cute and told me to "holla" at her. Haha. But the thing is,she's really unapproachable. She's like really shy and awkward.I heard that the time to talk to a really shy girl is when she's alone. But when I am about to talk to her she completely ignores my existence. But the thing is I catch her looking at me when I look at her she quickly looks away. She's in my trade but we've NEVER had a conversation. Awhile ago she asked asked me if my name was Tyler(which I'm pretty sure is an excuse because again,we're in the same trade) I answered her and that was pretty much the only time we "talked". Should I send her a friend request on FB and start a conversation with her or would it be too weird and/or stalkerish?(We have mutual friends by the way)

or:I think you should try to add her on Facebook first, and then once school starts again, try to start a conversation with her maybe the first day back. (If you see her.) Then once you guys get to know eachother better, ask her on a date. (: But if you think she likes you, then add her on Facebook and try to talk to her on that, and maybe ask her if she wants to meet up somewhere sometime. Good luck!!! (:
