Should one change the POV in a story to the person who experiences a main event with more detail?

I'm writing on a story (short one, but hey) and I've been writing from this persons POV only. Not in the I and me fashion, but so that the readers see what he sees and knows what he thinks. But now I'm up to the main event in the story, and it is happening to another character, and I really can't decide whether to switch the POV to the second person just because of this event to get a more detailed version or stick with the original person but get a dulled version of what happens, what he sees and thinks.
