Should you use crutches when you have a wound on your leg?

Long story short, I wasn't very smart. Now, I have a nasty wound on the middle of my thigh. It's fairly deep, not very long, but I can't get stitches for it. I went to the hospital 48 hours after it happened, and they told me that it would be a bad idea to stitch the wound. Something about trapping any possible infection in my leg. They told me to continue to treat it as I was (cleaning it with water, holding it with butterfly tape, antibacterial ointment, gauze, and then wrapping everything up with a tensor bandage) and to return if i notice any signs of infection.

I can walk on it, but with a limp. It hurts to apply my full weight on it, and I don't get around very quickly. If I sit down for an extended period of time, the pain is a lot worse when I move. There are moments when it hurts when I'm not even doing anything. (It's not showing any signs of infection, and I was told that it's going to hurt for a while, for obvious reasons). I have to work in a few hours. It isn't bleeding, and it hasn't for a while now. I'm just worried that with moving around so much, that it won't be able to heal properly. My partner suggested to bring a crutch with me and use it as much as possible, but I feel silly thinking of using one for this situation. It's not like I broke my leg or anything.

Obviously, I make bad decisions. I don't want to hurt myself any farther, and I want the best possible chance of healing this. What should I do?

or:What were you doing when you got the sore? You should try taking a anti-inflammatory this will help keep the swelling down if there is any try cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide it will boil out any bacteria try some polysporin it heals from the inside out you can try crutches if you want.
