When they do a colonoscopy, it looks completely empty, but every time I watch a science video about human digestion, it looks like both the small and large intestine are completely flooded with digest fluid. I'm so confused.
Please help. If we were inside, what would we see? Liquid? Air? both?

or:Normally the intestines are full of liquid and food matter. Prior to a colonoscopy large and small colons are completely emptied. During the colonoscopy compressed air is injected in front of the camera to open intestines up and allow the walls of the intestines to be seen clearly.
