Who do you contact if you have a dispute with your landlord over how much notice to give?

I've been in a rented house for four years on an AST agreement. My landlady just announced she's increasing the rent so I gave her a month's notice. She wants to hold me to the two months on the agreement. I haven't signed a new tenancy in the interim. Does anybody know whom I can contact to find out how to challenge this? I have a feeling that because I've been there so long I have a right to a month's notice.

or:well they can hold you to your lease what ever is left of it if you are on a month to month basic and you weren't tied to a contract go to landlord tenant act to see what tools you can find there
