Why do children screaming and crying terrify me?

Im an 18 year old girl with no children and I dont plan on having any in the future. However, when I hear a child or a baby start screaming and crying

I'm an 18 year old girl with no children and I don't plan on having any in the future. However, when I hear a child or a baby start screaming and crying I get really scared and torn up. It genuinely upsets me so much to the point that if it's loud enough I start to tear up. It's bad enough that I sometimes cannot be in the same room as a crying child and if it's a pubic place someone has to hold my hand to stop me from running off. Is there any real explanation for this? I do have autism if that helps.

or:There can be several reasons for this. Female hearing is more sensitive to the higher sounds because of our ability to have children. It's a natural thing for it to sound higher and sharper for that reason and because children can cry on a higher frequency. This can hurt your ears. You could also be experiencing the need to protect, but not knowing how to respond. Which may be why you feel torn and or scared. It could also be that you've experienced some sort of trauma you may or may not remember from your past. Your autism is probably not helping. Another thing is if you are not exposed a lot to children you may have a negative reaction to it or just opposite if you are constantly exposed you can feel suffocated and feel the need to get away. You're only 18 I wouldn't give up on the thought of children. No matter how old you get your never truly ready. If this continues it might be a good idea if you talk with a psychologist/psychiatrist or a physician.
