Why do people crunch their chips so loud?!?

or:That is how teeth deal with breaking down chips and other particularly crunchy foods, if she is eating tortilla chips or Doritos in particular it will have a much crunchier texture, which adds up to a louder sound, when the chips are being chewed, as opposed to thinner chips such as lays, which are compact and can be finished off in less bites. Does she tend to chew with her mouth open? That will make the crunchy sound more apparent? Tell her to chew with her mouth closed, that will help cut out most of the racket. Crunchy foods make that sound, people can minimize the sound, but it is hard to fully get rid of it. A trick that I find helpful when eating crunchy foods is enjoying it in smaller pieces, it is less for the teeth to deal with, which amounts to a quieter chip eating experience.
