Why do people listen to music at deafening levels of volume?

This is not an exaggeration, and I'm not saying I have not done it before myself because I have (my ears started ringing and it did hurt). The issue is that it really is deafening not only the music but the singing along that is somehow louder, and ever since that first time i hurt myself i have grown weary of loud music (And i already know about the "because they enjoy it more" argument). Can somebody give me a psychological explanation of the need to do this?

or:Hey :). If I'm not wrong they hear music as loud as they can since small to forget where they are and all their problems and off course because music brings them happiness. As louder the sound more happiness, but off course to a pleasant level. This dosent mean it's wright , better is not to use ear phones but without s\u00f3 the sound spreads.

or:The difference between softest sound and loudest sound is called 'dynamic range' and it is so important in music that there are special words to tell the player just how loud to play a passage. People who whine about volume just don't happen to like the music they are hearing.
