Why do so many superhero games fail?

the latest superhero game i just bought about a week ago was Batman Arkham Asylum. of course it was overrated like most games are. i wanted to buy Arkham City but the only used copy on Amazon was overpriced (not uncommon to find overpriced games on amazon). maybe it's because my standards of what a good game needs to have are too high. i'm sure that time and budget play a role. the boss battles are so repetitive and makes the game get boring.

or:Well I have played through both of them and arkaham asylum is a small game in its self and yes the boss battles are very repetitve but in Arkaham City the game is Huge with so many side story lines, I beat the main story line and was only like 25% done with the game and the boss battles aren't near as repetitve in the newer game and the combat flow is 10 times better. P.S. you should get your games from like gamestop or somewhere else cause all games will be over priced online.
