Why does my friend cry and put herself down when she drinks?

When me and my bestfriend go out on the weekends we usually go to a party. She is fun to be around when we get drunk unless she drinks Vodka. Everytime she drinks Vodka 10/15 mins later she will start crying and go to the bathroom and I always follow her to comfort her , she will be crying so hard and saying she hates herself and she's ugly and she wants to die and all kinds of other things.. why? She only does it when she drinks Vodka, but any other type of drink she is funny and fun to be around.
