Why does my step dad treat me this way?

Recently, I've come down with Mono which brought me to the ER because it was so brutal. My step dad has been to the ER recently as well for a hernia. He always needs as much attention as he can get and when it's not received everyone's being rude to him and not treating him with respect which leads to him bringing up his terrible upbringing. I' be overheard him telling my mom that I need to stop being a (excuse my language) 'whiny little b!tc#' and that I need to stop being so selfish. He was angry at me because I had a fever of 104 and was 'crying and hallucinating' as my mother said. I know he doesn't care about me and he's told my mother so. But she can't leave him as she just couldn't afford it and we have no one else to rely on, my grandma and aunt have disowned us for their own selfish reasons and my father and his family are very inconsiderate as well. My father is a psycho, he threatened to murder one of his ex-wives and her mother! How can we get away from this situation? I don't even know if my mother is mentally capable of leaving him as she has tried to commit suicide before. He's also verbally abusing my younger sister who is 8 y/o. He tells her that she's a failure, she going to get pregnant as a teen, that she's stupid and probably has dyslexia or is autistic, etc. He constantly undermines me as well. And I have a 2 year old brother and my step dad is his father. If my mom does 'get away' he will try to take my brother and we have no way of affording a lawyer and we've tried to see if a lawyer would help us for free but they simply won't. I'm afraid for all of my family's well being. But we just simply can't afford for him to leave, we're too broke. Any advice?

or:Well, you obviously have a lot on your plate at the moment. Your stepdad might be jealous of your love for your mum and that your mum loves u too. Look after your sister and brother as a priority and stay out of your step dads way or try to reason with him about life as so on. Make sure your mum gets help with her thoughts as well but make sure u tell her it's not okay to treat your sister like that! Hang in their babes and I hope it gets better for u xx
