Why does "google-analytics.com" show up as contacted when I am using a private website?

Using Firefox on Linux, it displays at bottom of window various interaction between my browser and the website I'm using. When I sign in to a private,
restricted website and, say, send some typing, I have noticed "google-analytics.com" is contacted. Not sure why this is happening. Any idea why Google Analytics is contacted?

or:If you don't pay for something, you are not the customer: you are the thing being sold. Some sites pay their expenses by selling information to Google so that Google can send ads that apply specifically to you. If you have a Google account you can inspect what they have and opt out of some of it. If you have no account then you are just an anonymous wanderer with no rights.
