Why is a stranger in Florida able to see everything I do on his work computer?

Oct. 2011. I was using a acer computer. A man from Florida called me, demanding I fix my computer, that he was seeing everything I did on his work computer. He knew the games I had played, what I had downloaded, and he found my name by seeing my Facebook page. He had been trying track me down for days. He said I must of had a virus.
At the time I had no knowledge of malware, viruses or hacking. So I thought he was crazy. I can't even remember how I solved this problem, but since my computer has broke down and no longer runs.

Anyways, just furthering my knowledge, if anyone cares to share!
