Will American Airlines give boarding group 2 if you do not use their credit card to buy ticket?

Concerning American Airlines boarding groups: I am considering an American Aadvantage credit card that has a preferred boarding in Group 2 benefit.

Can I receive that benefit if my company buys the ticket directly, and I do not use my credit card to buy the ticket. The company does provide my frequent traveler number as part of the reservation.
