So I live in a 3rd world country and know the emergency services would be very restricted on what they could do.

I was about to get some sleep and then thought about what I would do in the event of a fire and this question popped up.

I know the first thing would be to cover the gaps in the floor to prevent the smoke from coming through, if possible wet an item and cover it over my mouth and get as low as possible to the floor however if there was a fire outside of my room I would be stuck, I wouldn't have access to a window. Only the door the smoke is coming through would be my way out. If I put my duvet in the shower and soaked it, wrapped it around me and then made a 3-5 second run to get outside. Would I be safe?

or:If you are going to die anyway, you might as well do anything you can think of.
