Here are some random images from the various galleries.Nose Art and Pin-ups WW2 Airplane Pictures World War Two - Various Topics Read about aces like Pappy Boyington, Butch O'Hare, ChuckYeager, Manfred von Richthofen, Eddie Rickenbacker,& Erich Hartmann, or about pioneering aviators like CharlesLindbergh, Amelia Earhart, and Howard Hughes.Learn about the famous "Red Tails," the Tuskegee Airmen, who were the first black fighter pilots in American history.Or great planes like the P-51 Mustang, P-38 Lightning, P-47Thunderbolt, B-17 Flying Fortress, and the Sopwith Camel. All the World War II theaters, services, and fighter planes areincluded: P-47 Thunderbolt pilots with the 56th Fighter Group of the8th Air Force, Marine Corsair aces of Guadalcanal and the Solomons, carrier based Navy Hellcat pilots, and USAAF fighter pilots who flewthe P-38 over New Guinea and the Philippines. Since writing that introduction in 1999, I have greatly expandedthiswebsite, covering many other aspects of World War Two and aviation. Thesite now features a large section on World War One aviators andaircraft. The inter-war period, the so-called 'Golden Age of Aviation,'when fliers like Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart captured theworld's imagination, is covered. For that period, I have somefascinating material from my Dad (when he was a young aviationenthusiast) - the Hall of Fame of the Air cartoon feature, as well assome aircraft photos he took. Within the topic of World War two aviation, there are some articles on Germanaces and fighter planes, as well as American bombers. So, enthusiastsof Erich Hartmann, the Bf109, the B-17 Flying Fortress, etc. will findmuch here. There is a lot more: a section on MilitaryMedals; World War 2 Pictures, and a section of WWII ships, including many pictures from acontemporary Naval Recognition Guide. And a Facebook page.Originally written, June, 1999. Last updated Apr. 21, 2013.© 1999-, by Acepilots.com. All rights reserved. FAQ | Privacy Policy | Sources | Site Map | What's New | About | Contact
