Bridging The Gap (BTG) works to make the Kansas City region sustainable by "connecting environment, economy and community," and is the premier organization in the area providing environmental education and volunteer action through more than 1,800 volunteers annually. As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity of donations to keep working. If you believe in our mission, please consider making an investment in BTG. Make a Donation Our Programs Bridging the Gap fulfills its mission through an extensive array of programs. Trees KC WildLands Recycling in KC Litter Water & Energy Conservation Green Business Network Trees Heartland Tree Alliance recognizes the importance of the trees along our streets, in our parks and around our homes, businesses, and public buildings. Heartland Tree Alliance trains advocates throughout the metro about the critically important benefits created by our urban trees. We also organize events to engage and educate the community. learn more KC WildLands Kansas City WildLands is a coalition of resource professionals, private conservation organizations, and conservation-minded citizens established to restore and manage the remnants of Kansas City’s original landscape. learn more Recycling in KC Bridging The Gap currently manages three of KCMO’s recycling centers. The money received from the materials is paid to the City of Kansas City, Missouri, which helps to cover the operating costs of the centers. learn more Litter Our mission is to involve citizens, businesses, and government in creating a cleaner and more beautiful Kansas City. We host stream cleanups and assist neighborhoods and community organizations in cleanups and green events. learn more Water & Energy Conservation Conserving water saves energy. Using less water reduces the energy required to process and deliver it to our homes and businesses. Community Recycling Center Volunteer this fall with BTG at the Red Bridge Community Recycling Center, located at 5200 E. Red Bridge Rd in KCMO. Shifts available include: Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday from 10:30 AM – 2 PM. Saturday shifts are 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM or 1 – 5 PM. Min age: 8 with parent. Volunteer alone at 14 yrs. Yes!
