From the Calendar Friday, July 15, 2022 at 03:00 AM through October 13, 2022 at 3:00am Eastern Time (US & Canada) Video launch via YouTube American Women Need Your Help Now!  The GWC Reproductive Justice Team is launching a project to promote voter registration under the theme Reproductive Justice for ALL.As you certainly know, the rights of all women to choose when and if to start a family are being taken away with over 26 States prohibiting or restricting the right to abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy even in the cases of rape, incest and the mother’s and/or the  fetus’ health. Texas has empowered vigilantes to sue everyone and anyone aiding and abetting abortion once the fetal heartbeat can be heard (eg at approximately 6 weeks and before most women know they are pregnant). We cannot allow this to continue particularly with Roe v Wade in peril and the Women’s Health Protection Act stuck in the Senate. Our project is a video launch via YouTube. We are asking all DA members to make a short (60 sec) video explaining why the right to abortion is absolutely necessary. If you come from a State where it is practically impossible to obtain an abortion, you can speak about the discrimination against minority and poor women whose lives are in jeopardy and who cannot travel. If you come from “good States” such as MA, CA, NY for example, you can speak to the injustice of access depending upon where you live. Make sure you mention in the video VotefromAbroad.org for expat voter registration and vote.gov for non expat voter registration. We believe that many of our voters will be motivated to register when we roll out the videos. Here are a few subjects that you could choose for your video:If you live/vote in a country that has “good” reproductive freedom laws, you could refer to the country and the liberal law(s) and how lucky you are to be in that country and how unfair it is for American women LIVING IN THE US who can’t benefit from such lawsIf you live/vote in a US State that has good reproductive freedom laws, see above. And you can say that living in a “bad” State is  discriminatory since women in “good “US States have rights that you are denied. You can share a personal experience. You don’t have to use your name or even mention where you live. The videos will be anonymous unless you do give details. You can make a statement about women should have the right to control their bodies. Period. There is no justification for the government to decide when, how  or even if women should have children. If you can’t think of anything to say but still want to make a video, feel free to contact Salli at [email protected]. She will set up a call and walk you through some ideas and we can help you make the video. Here is a link on how to make a video:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1O7wGPrZmmXocOuMI5zZutc1w62nHlQWZOat8Srq_bFQ/edit?usp=sharingFor more information, visit our blog space here:https://www.democratsabroad.org/wc_reproductive_justice_action_teamAll videos should be sent to Salli Swartz at [email protected]THANKS FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS TO MAKE THIS HAPPENDisclaimer: By submitting your video, you grant to Democrats Abroad a nonexclusive rights to use your video and your image only for the 2022 GWC Reproductive Justice Get Out the Vote video project. You therefore hereby waive all rights to any claims arising out of or in connection with Democrats Abroad GWC’s use of your video  and image in connection with the 2022 Reproductive Justice video project.  View event Friday, July 15, 2022 at 03:00 PM through July 18, 2022 at 3:00pm Berlin Time · 32 rsvps Downtown Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, Germany Frankfurt CSD/Pride 2022  June is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBTQ) Pride Month to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots and work to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for the LGBTQ community. Wade is an abhorrent and unprecedented assault on our fundamental human rights. Today is a dark day, a hard day in American history. Stripped of protections and freedoms the past 50 years had granted us, we now confront a new, grim reality where our health, marriages, and basic bodily autonomy are on the chopping block. Make no mistake: the radical Republican Party has no intention of stopping with Roe. We can and we must fight back. We must show up to the polls this November — and make sure that every single American we know has a plan to vote, too.  In this moment of despair, let us not forget that the power still resides with us – and that the overwhelming majority of Americans support the freedoms Roe upheld. A net gain of only two more U.S. Senators will allow for abortion rights to be codified at the federal level. The America we want, need, and deserve is within reach, and Democrats Abroad is committed to making it a reality. We still have each other — and our resolve to fight for our basic rights. Let’s do this. read more Share Enough Is Enough posted by Candice Kerestan | DA International Chair; Immediate Past DA Germany Chair May 25, 2022 Democrats Abroad joins our nation as it grieves the latest round of senseless shootings with innocent lives taken. We extend our deepest sympathy to all those impacted by these tragic events and resolve to fight every day for a country where everyone feels safe. However, it is not enough to be horrified by these events. We must act.In the past ten days, the United States has had 17 mass shootings with 43 killed and 79 injured. Two of them – in Buffalo, New York and Uvalde, Texas – made global headlines. In both cases, the 18-year-old suspects were able to acquire assault weapons – legally.Democrats Abroad deplores Republican lawmakers’ failure to enact legislation that would protect the people of America. Why do we continue to allow opponents of gun control to stand in the way of legislation that would prevent innocent lives being taken during their daily routines? Americans need to break that cycle – and legislators who will prioritize our children’s lives over money from the gun lobby. It’s time we acknowledge that what we are doing isn’t working.Americans around the globe can do more than offering heartache, thoughts and prayers. We owe families more than condolences. Globally, we are more than six million strong, and we must vote to change the laws that allow these attacks to happen. We must elect Democrats who will stand up for the American people, against the gun lobby, and for sensible gun legislation.Stand together. Take action. Call your Congressional Representative and US Senators to demand they take action on guns and gun violence. Look up their contact details here.Commit to asking five Americans living abroad to request their ballot at VoteFromAbroad.org.Show your support on National Gun Violence Awareness Day and Wear Orange Weekend on June 3-5.
