Welcome! The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL) is known for its warmth and hospitality as it welcomes visitors and pilgrims to the Holy Land from around the world. The first Pentecost marked the emergence of the first Palestinian Christians. Our church was established much more recently. Around 1851, German and English missionaries came to the Holy Land to teach and minister here. This ministry became the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land. Today, our ministry creates a strong presence in bothCongregationalandEducationalMinistries. Congregational MinistriesOur congregational ministries consist of five congregations located in Jerusalem, Ramallah, and the Bethlehem area, and one congregation in Amman, Jordan. Our churches in Amman and Ramallah are composed largely of refugee families who fled their homes to escape violence following the formation of the State of Israel. Educational MinistriesStudents at the School of Hope, located in Ramallah. Our educational ministry consists of four K-12 Schools in Bethlehem, Beit Sahour, Beit Jala, and Ramallah. In addition, the educational ministry of the al-Mahaba Kindergarten on the Mount of Olives, the Martin Luther Community Development Center in the Old City of Jerusalem, and the Environmental Education Center in Beit Jala are under the ELCJHL as well. These institutions together provide exceptional academic and vocational education to the community.Join us!With support for youth, women, men, and children of all faiths, ethnicities, and economic foundations, the ELCJHL is a living, breathing testimony to theLiving Stonesin the Holy Land. We invite you to discover the depth of our work here in the challenging circumstances of occupied Palestine. You will be moved by how our ministries are alive in the people of our land.Follow Our Social MediaFacebookInstagramLinkedInTwitterNewsletterSearchRecent PostsSave the Date!
