We feel it in our hearts, and scientific data support what we inherently know—our coast is special.The members of the Georgia Coast Collaborative (“GCC”) created this Coastal Resource Asset Barometer (“CRAB”) to share what the data tell us about Georgia’s 100-mile coast. We wanted to understand how our choices are impacting the quality of our resources. Are the actions and investments of individuals, local governments, and industries improving our coastal assets, or are they eroding them?Our research was guided by the goals associated with the GCC’s vision. CRAB is designed to provide an annual snapshot into the threats and opportunities facing our coast. The data sets assembled here represent a baseline upon which we will measure our progress in future years.Throughout this site you may see statistics and read information that lead you to more questions. We experience the same. This is not a static process but a learning opportunity that will build knowledge over time.
