Our top priority is catalyzing equitable solutions that make the region the best place to live, work, and thrive. Our Vision For the Future The Challenge Our Region’s future, and the success of our businesses, hinges on our ability to grow equitably and inclusively. Inclusive economies create better futures for everyone, helping build resiliency, attracting talent, and stimulating investment. No challenge is more urgent than this one. Our businesses cannot outgrow or outperform the communities we serve. The Goal To develop the communities from Baltimore to Richmond into a national model for advancing equitable economic solutions. To that end, inclusive growth must be at the forefront of every business decision for every company across the region, which in turn will build resiliency, attract talent, and stimulate investments. Our Intention To help the Capital Region reach its potential. As the 3rd largest regional economy in the USA and the 7th largest in the world, we have the diverse talent, jobs, transportation, and innovation ecosystem needed to thrive. How many workers do GWP’s members employ? More than 250,000 people GWP’s members represent businesses employing more than 250,000 people in the Capital Region. What percentage of commuters travel to a new jurisdiction for work? Nearly 50% of commuters Prior to the pandemic, of the Capital Region’s 10.2 million residents, nearly 50% of those who commute cross county borders and 20% cross state lines daily to access their jobs. What is the percentage of the population that holds a Bachelor’s degree or higher? 46% of the population Nearly half of the population, 46 percent, or 3.3 million, in the greater Capital Region 25 years and older hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher. What is the gap between supply and demand for digital tech workers in our region? 17,037 unfilled digital tech jobs By 2025, we anticipate a supply gap of 49% for digital tech talent jobs. Despite a deep digital tech workforce, the gap in our region is larger than peer regions’ and the U.S. average.
