Who we areThe GreenValley project begun in Castelvecchio Subequo, a small village in the region of  Abruzzo. This village is located in the top of a mountain of the Subequana valley, at the feed of the beautiful Sirente Velino Regional Park. Farming and the agriculture industry sustain a significant proportion of employment and income in many small and medium-sized towns throughout Abruzzo. We realize that social structures and cultures are never completely static; they can and do change. Those changes depends greatly on the contact people have with other cultures and new ideas, and on the ability of individuals within the society to initiate and accept change. This is why GreenValley focuses on developing resources that will support local commercial agriculture specifically to grow and thrive.Although we understand that our work should respect and work through the existing culture and social structure, our main goal is to help speed up cultural change and economic growth by facilitating innovative technologies and specialized consultancy and machinery support to the local farmers. Our cultivationsIn 2017, GreenValley succeeded in the cultivation of over 30 hectares of hemp, having our fields in the regions of Abruzzo and Veneto. We cultivate three different varieties of industrial hemp – Futura 75, Santhica 70 and Finola-, reaching over 100 hectares in 2018 and increasing to 136 hectares in 2019. Our standardsGood Agricultural and Collection PracticesIn order to ensure appropriate and consistent quality of plant/herbal substances it is necessary to establish good agricultural and collection practices (GACP).  The main aim is to ensure proper product quality standards. Following the GACP standards we make sure our hemp products accomplish the following aspects:– are produced hygienically.– are handled with care so that plants/herbal substances are not adversely affected during collection, cultivation, processing and storage.These guidelines concern the cultivation and collection of plants/herbal substances, including post-harvest operations. Moreover,  provides recommendations for producers to reduce contamination to a minimum. Our projectsWe understand that positive impact will only be achieved if sustainable agriculture becomes an environmental, social and business matter. Therefore, we are committed to the solutions that respond world challenges like promoting a healthy living, guaranteeing clean and safe agricultural products, promoting sustained and inclusive economic growth and fomenting innovation by providing farmers with the best tools and solutions so that they can grow enough using fewer resources.
