The shelters are built with a heart for HomeAid’s mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education. HomeAid Houston, a 501 c 3 charity was established by the leadership of the Greater Houston Builders Association in 2003 and is one of 19 chapters of HomeAid America, the nation’s largest provider of transitional shelters for the homeless. HomeAid identifies long term, stable non-profit care providers, who need additional capacity and pairs them with GHBA builders, remodelers, vendors, and suppliers who donate their time, materials, and labor to help build hope and homes for the homeless. Our mission gives us broad latitude to engage in building projects across the entire Continuum of Care, from emergency shelters to transitional housing to permanent supportive housing. Every HomeAid project supports an agency that provides services that help residents move toward self-sufficiency, such as education and job skills training, physical and emotional support, etc.Our Vision StatementHomeAid’s vision is to be a vital force in creating safe and dignified housing and programmatic facilities for those who areexperiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our MissionHomeAid’s mission is to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, communityengagement, and education. Our Core ValuesInclusiveness: Valuing that every individual has worth and human dignity through a willingness to help our neighbors in timesof need and to understand the unique stories behind each individual we serve.Collaboration: Embracing working together as a community to achieve what is notpossible alone.Integrity: Ensuring that everything we do is accomplished with a sense of responsibility, honesty, respect, confidence, and acommitment to stay consistently aligned with our missionOur Program SolutionsHomeAid Houston’s 4 program solutions help build hope and change lives for Houston’s homeless.HOMEAID BUILDS HomeAid selects a homeless care provider based on qualifying applications fora new construction project. At the same time, HomeAid Houston maintains partnerships with various non-profit care providers in Houston to understand the agencies’ immediate and ongoing needs. HomeAid Houston evaluates those needs and determines if a volunteer group can provide assistance. If so, HomeAid Houston matches the agency with interested volunteers. If not, the need will be referred to another HomeAid Houston Program: Builds, Cares,or Connects. Based on the agency’s need, volunteers may complete Outreach Projects or organize item donation drives. HomeAid Houston will coordinate with both the agency and volunteer group to plan a successful Outreach Project or item drive and ensure the agency’s needs are met.THE IMPACT THAT YOUR EFFORTS HAVE MADE SINCE 2003HomeAid Houston wouldn't be able to achieve our mission without the generous help from people like you.
