Their faith in God and commitment to each other kept them strong through rough times of mental breakdowns. It is challenging enough to go through a union when people come from different cultural and religious backgrounds. And when you introduce mental illness to this mix, commitment takes a whole different meaning. Stress triggers mental traumas leading to breakdowns which can happen at any age. Mental illness or wellness is not a topic given much attention in Indian culture. It’s a taboo subject and rarely do people want to discuss or associate with it. If we want healthy and flourishing society, we need to accept all of human – physical and mental challenges. It is our responsibility as humans to build a community that is strong and one way for a community to be strong is by acknowledging and loving the whole human. Erin and Keith are working through their challenges. As you will hear, it is important for Erin and Keith to normalize the discussion of mental health so we can move into helping those who are suffering in silence. Erin is an award winning author and you can find her recent book, Mental Health Strong, informative as well as a great guide to anyone who needs guidance in finding a path to accepting himself/herself and healing. “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength. While loving someone deeply gives you courage” – Lao TzuThis entry was posted in Podcast Episodes and tagged Mental Health, Mental Health Strong on November 3, 2020 by AMANPREET KAUR.Moving into Adulthood Part 2 – IIM044Leave a replyhttp://traffic.libsyn.com/indianinterracialmarriages/IIM044.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Stitcher | Email | RSS | MorePodcast: Play in new window | DownloadBy Amanpreet Kaur – Follow me: Instagram, Facebook Rate & Review this Podcast If you wish to donate to this Podcast [wpedon id=”461″ align=”center”] In Part 2 of this episode of Indian Interracial Marriages Podcast, my guests Leonard and Duray share their losses, family breakdowns and decisions they made to move into adulthood.Leonard and Duray both lost their dads in the midst of their ordeal of figuring out the best options for keep their relationship alive.  Duray went through her challenges with her mother and aunt along with finding out that she has a half-sister that she never knew of.  Duray tries to protect her mother from pain but it is something that no one can protect us from.  We each have our choices and sometimes we chose pain and suffering and I don’t know why we do that. This is a very sensitive and emotional episode so I encourage you to listen to the whole story and find your resolutions if you are looking for answers. You may connect with Leonard and Duray on Instagram and Youtube.   This entry was posted in Podcast Episodes on February 9, 2019 by AMANPREET KAUR.When you are young & have to make decisions Part 1 – IIM043Leave a replyhttp://traffic.libsyn.com/indianinterracialmarriages/IIM043.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Stitcher | Email | RSS | MorePodcast: Play in new window | DownloadBy Amanpreet Kaur – Follow me: Instagram, Facebook Rate & Review this Podcast If you wish to donate to this Podcast [wpedon id=”461″ align=”center”] In this episode of Indian Interracial Marriages Podcast, my guests Leonard and Duray share their love story which still is in the middle of having some resolution. It took me a while to find words to share this post. I don’t think I can do justice to Duray and Leonard’s story with words. It really seems like a story picked from a movie that is still in the intermission period. I selected to have this story in 2 parts as it was an unusually long interview that needed to happen. The couple shared their journey of their relationship that moved from friendship into romantic relationship in high school. This is a 7 years saga and still has ways to go before some satisfactory resolution for the couple.I am so grateful to Duray and Leonard for being open and generously sharing their journey. There was nothing filtered and the raw emotions left me speechless at times. It is best if I stop writing and leave you to listen to the story. We all want more money and yet we run away from discussing this in our families.Money making and spending is brings high level of emotions along on daily basis. Most of our waking hours are spent making money, dreaming hours are spent spending money, sleeping hours are spent worrying about it. Did I get this right?WHAT IF WE CHANGE IT ALL? What if we change our belief systems today. I am sure that by the time you are done listening to this conversation, you will feel empowered and positively moved to grant your family an open discussion about money. Marriages Podcast, I bring a story of passion and action.  Many of you may have heard of Kitaabworld, an independent book store online brings South Asian children’s literature to all.  I say that the owners, Gauri Manglik and Sadaf Siddique do all the homework and deliver the knowledge to us at home.  Sometimes in the crowded market, it can be challenging to find books and literature that offers information to us adults and to kids.  So Kitaabworld has taken on the challenge of making things easier for us.I speak with Gauri Manglik as she tells the story of how the project got started and her love for reading as well as her goal for bringing the love for reading back into our kids lives.  We shall get to hear from Sadaf Siddique another time as we get our schedules figured out for a conversation.  The festival season has started already and Kitaabworld has many books that offer great info about these festivals.  There were things I didn’t know about either so these books helped me and believe me I’m not a big reader.  The illustrations in the books helped me stay focused on learning. The books are very reasonably priced so I encourage you to check these out at full price but if you really like using coupons, you can use discount code IIM10 to get 10% off.You can connect with the founders of Kitaabworld on Instagram and Facebook and TwitterSadaf (left) & Gauri (right)This
