In 2019 I suffered a stroke; since then I've been rehabilitating and focusing on projects that I’m passionate about. In my past as a software engineer I worked at companies like Facebook, Twitter & Stripe. CreationsI've contributed to various open-source projects and created a bunch of useful utilites over the yearts. Take a look on Github. I've also written blog posts ranging topics from JavaScript to more opinionated pieces on software architecture. You can find an archive of these posts here. I also have contributed heavily to StackOverflow, and have written a 500-page book on writing "Clean Code in JavaScript." DisabilityMy recent brain injury has left me reflecting on the ableism normalized throughout workplaces and wider society. I am, as such, actively trying to advocate more for disability rights and topics like chronic illness and mental health. Please read my article, “Disability: Models, Cultures, Perceptions and the Path to Inclusivity.” The Good GrandThe Good Grand is a collective of individuals, founded by me, dedicating £1000 per month to bring social change in areas we believe most sorely lack funding and solutions. We believe that low-barrier unencumbered grants can trigger disproportionate levels of impact, both locally and globally. 2022's theme is Mental Health & LGBTQ+. We contribute to individual fundraises and collective efforts. A Book Like Foo(NOW SUSPENDED TO CLIMBING COSTS OF HOSTING) A Book Like Foo is (was) a book recommendation platform. It will discover books tailored to specific tastes and themes, selected from hundreds of thousands of titles. It builds recommendation from a graph database containing millions of books and co-affections between those books. It uses a modified collaborative filtering approach giving (sometimes) surprisingly good results. SE1 LONDON // To email me: [String.fromCharCode(106), 'j11y.io'].join('@')
