Please be patient, this may take a moment. AboutAttractionsOur PartnersGalleryContact Info Directions Due to the current and ongoing COVID-19 crisis, this year's LEO Fun Day has unfortunately been cancelled. We look forward to returning in 2021 stronger than ever and look forward to seeing you all there!Thank You & Stay Safe! About The Pasco County Law Enforcement Officers Family Fun Day⇧ ⇧ The Sixth Annual Law Enforcement Officers Family Fun Day, sponsored by Laporte, Mulligan & Werner-Watkins, P.A. and a long list of local business partners, was held at FOP Lodge #29 on Saturday, April 6th, 2019.More than 650 people attended this event, which is intended to thank Pasco County's Law Enforcement Officers, current and retired, and their families, for their service to our community. A barbecue lunch was provided courtesy of Hungry Harry's BBQ.The focus on family fun included a visit from the Easter Bunny and an Easter Egg hunt. Thank you to the Badge Wives for stuffing over 1500 Easter eggs and managing the Easter Egg hunt!New this year was a rock climbing wall. Everyone loved this new addition! Returning again this year, Croc Encounters! brought turtles, snakes, lizards and an alligator that the kids could hold. Face painting, balloons, a bounce house, a hula hoop contest and more were among the many activities to entertain kids, both little and big. The families were treated to ice cream, sno-cones and popcorn courtesy of our business partners. Door prizes included a tankless water heater & and air purification system donated by R.J. Kielty; a gas grill donated by MicroSolutions; flat screen TV donated by Oliver & Fox; a Lottery Bunny with $200 worth of scratch off cards donated by Bob Memoli; and gift cards to many local businesses..The Sheriff's Office brought a SWAT vehicle, a motorcycle, and a helicopter to display, and for the kids to explore and pose with for pictures. A K-9 demonstration wowed the crowd with the dogs in action. The Sheriff's Mounted Posse attended with their horses. We released balloons in honor of the fallen while Robert Larcom played Amazing Grace on bagpipes. As in previous years, the remaining funds after expenses were donated to the Pasco Fallen Officer Memorial and Benefit Foundation. Pasco is the only Florida county with no permanent memorial to its fallen officers, and our LEO Fun Day contribution is helping to remedy this. With all the controversy surrounding law enforcement in our country these days, it is important to remember that these dedicated men and women put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe and secure. This year it became apparent that this Family Fun Day will continue to be a popular event for years to come, and with that in mind a charitable 501c(3) corporation, LEO Funday, Inc., was created. This provides for both business partners and charitable contributions in what is fast becoming a tradition in the Pasco Law Enforcement Officer family. LEO Funday, Inc. is run by a Board of Directors, whose sole focus is to continue to bring smiles to the families of our law enforcement community, and raise funds for law enforcement charitable causes. When all was said and done, we raised approximately $14,000.00 above the costs of the event, which will be donated to the Pasco County Fallen Law Enforcement Officer Memorial and Benefit Foundation, Inc. That organization is committed to constructing a permanent memorial in Pasco County to our fallen law enforcement officers, and to provide a revenue stream that will aid the families of fallen officers in the days and weeks following a tragedy. In six years over $88,000 has been contributed to the Fallen LEO Memorial Foundation. History of the Family Fun DayIn 2013, Arndrea and Craig Laporte wanted to find a way to acknowledge Pasco County’s law enforcement officers and their families in a positive and fun way. They considered many possibilities, none of which seemed feasible at the time. The result of this desire to recognize the officers, employees and their families who give so much to ensure a safe community was a free day of fun for the families, supported by local business partners. The Pasco County Law Enforcement Family Fun Day was created and first implemented in 2014.With the blessings and cooperation of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #29, a beautiful site on Bell Lake was secured. This secure and private lakeside setting is the perfect place for the close-knit law enforcement families to come together and relax in a familial atmosphere.Craig's law firm, Laporte, Mulligan & Werner- Watkins, P.A spearheaded a drive to build a core of sponsors who were like-minded about sending thanks to our law enforcement community. The initial goal was simply to generate a sufficient revenue stream to pay for the day. As Craig and his supporters began to approach businesses, it became apparent that the financial support would exceed expectations.Pasco County is the only county in Florida without a permanent memorial to its fallen law enforcement officers. Another organization, the Pasco County Fallen Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Benefit Foundation had just been created to rectify this unfortunate situation. With the Fun Day Business Partners' approval, Craig pledged that any funds above those needed for the Family Fun Day would be donated to the worthy cause promoted by the Foundation.Since the first LEO Funday, the concept has grown, and every year more and more business partners join with Craig, Arndrea and Laporte, Mulligan & Werner- Watkins, P.A to make the day a resounding success. It became apparent that this event will go on for years into the future. In order to make the program bigger and better, LEO Funday, Inc. was created as a charitable corporation, with IRS 501 (c)3 status. This allows the corporation to seek both business partners and charitable contributions to continue what is fast becoming a tradition in the Pasco Law Enforcement Officer Family circle. LEO Funday, Inc. is now run by a Board of Directors, whose sole focus is to continue to bring smiles to the families of our law enforcement community, and raise funds for worthwhile law enforcement charitable causes.LEO Funday, Inc. The Pasco Sheriff's Office Canine Unit consists of seven K-9/handler teams.Pasco Sheriff's Office Aviation Helicopter DisplayThe Pasco Sheriff's Office will also have their helicopter on display. The Aviation Unit provides airborne law enforcement support to all components within the Pasco Sheriff's Office seven days a week. Currently, pro-active air support is being provided to approximately 745 square miles of land, 21 miles of coastline, and 180 square miles of waterways. The Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit is the only law enforcement aircraft based in Pasco County. For this reason, the Aviation Unit is often summoned by other agencies for assistance. The helicopter's speed, agility, and vantage point provide the road deputy with a "force multiplier" making it an invaluable asset. Sheriff's Office helicopters utilize the Forward Looking Infra-Red system to locate persons who may be concealed by darkness. The Aviation Unit consists of two law enforcement pilots, one Tactical Flight Officer, and one Aviation mechanic, all of whom are supervised by the law enforcement chief pilot. The Aviation Unit is responsible for the acquisition of equipment and parts, and for the maintenance of all fixed wing and rotary aircraft. The Aviation Unit's duties include proactive patrols, search and recovery missions, surveillance operations, domestic marijuana eradication, traffic enforcement, investigative transportation, and aerial photography for investigation and courtroom presentation.Pasco Sheriff's Office SWAT Vehicle DisplayDuring the event, the Pasco SWAT team will also have several vehicles on display. The Pasco County Special Weapons and Tactics Team is a group of 21 trained law enforcement deputies with special knowledge in tactics, specialized equipment, and firearms. Members of the SWAT team all have other full-time jobs elsewhere in the agency. Members of SWAT must maintain superior physical conditioning and undergo an extensive amount of annual training. The members are on-call 24 hours a day, every day, to respond to high hazard, emergency and critical incidents requiring specialized firearms and/or tactics. These incidents include hostage situations, barricaded subjects, search warrants, arrest warrants, and dignitary protection details.Sheriff's Equestrian Units. We Fight As One!
