Liberty School Nutrition Brochure.pdfAbout our ProgramThe Liberty County School Nutrition program provides quality meals and nutrition education that contribute to the nutritional well-being of our students and their performance at school. The school nutrition program (SNP) participates in the National School Lunch, National School Breakfast and Seamless Summer Food Service Programs. All the programs are regulated and funded by theUnited States Department of Agriculturewith theSchool and Community Nutrition Unit of the Georgia Department of Educationoverseeing the program administration. The School Nutrition Program makes its revenue by receiving federal reimbursement for eligible meals served to all students. The School Nutrition Program is self-supporting and does not receive monies from the local board of education's general funds. The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. The Liberty School Nutrition Department is headed by Stephanie Fox. Mrs. Fox has over 39 years of food service experience with 19 of those years in the School Nutrition Program. Under her leadership are three central office staff members. Brandi Ferguson is the School Nutrition Bookkeeper. Marie Lehigh is the School Nutrition Coordinator and Angie Perkins is the School Recordkeeper.Liberty County has 13 operating school cafeterias which employs over 85 food service employees. Each site is supervised by the cafeteria manager. All cafeteria managers are ServSafe Certified. Additionally, nutritious lunch meals are provided to all students at a price affordable to them. USDA Child Nutrition guidelines and standards are followed in preparation and service of meals. Our GoalSince nutrition affects physical growth and intellectual development, well nourished children are better able to learn. It is our goal to provide quality food items that are (1) acceptable to customers, (2) accommodating to children with special needs, (3) consistent with the Dietary Guidelines and (4) served in a pleasant, attractive and safe environment by caring people. We plan, prepare and offer food choices as healthful examples for Liberty County students to increase the likelihood they will learn to choose a healthful diet. Additionally, the school nutrition program offers its kitchens and cafeterias as learning laboratories to support teachers with nutrition education activities in the classroom. Our commitment to good nutrition for your kids just keeps getting stronger!____________________________________________________________________________________You may make prepayments to your child's meal accountOnline any time at MySchoolBucks.com!___________________________________________________________________________________ {{gallery.name}} Non-Discrimination StatementIn accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.), should contact the Agency (State or local) where they applied for benefits.
