Whilst thus to ballast love I thought,And so more steadily to have gone,With wares which would sink admiration,I saw I had love's pinnace overfraughtEvery thy hair for love to work uponIs much too much, some fitter must be sought; For, nor in nothing, nor in thingsExtreme and scatt'ring bright, can love inhere. Then as an angel, face and wingsOf air, not pure as it, yet pure doth wear,So thy love may be my love's sphere.Just such disparityAs is 'twixt air and angel's purity,'Twixt women's love and men's will ever be. Here's how to get the best chance of locating your work on our site, if we managed to save it:1) Use our search box to look for your poetry, either by poet name or poem title. If you think you may have used a slightly different name please try searching using all variations.2) You can also explore our poems by searching alphabetically by name of poem, or poet.3) You can claim ownership for the work by clicking on the 'Claim this poet' link that appears on the unclaimed poet page.If your search fails to bring you results, we offer our sincerest sympathies. Our team has made a tireless effort over the last few months to recover as much as possible of the old content from internet archive records. We have managed to save some, but not all, of the lost material. Some material dates further than records go, other work remains inaccessible to us for reasons unknown. You can try yourself by going through pages on Archive.org at https://web.archive.org/web/*/poetry.com - it is a public service website, unrelated to us and you may just get lucky if you search around the dates you posted...To have a chance at finding a book your poem was published in, you can look at various online second hand booksellers such as amazon, ebay, or here: https://www.isbns.net/author/Editor_Howard_ElyThe good news is, we as the new owners of Poetry.com, are 100% passionate about literature, the written word, and their preservation. I admit I was trying to find a way of contacting you when I received the notifications from Stands4/Poetry.com that you had liked my comments. I kept coming back to the 2 emails and following the link(s) trying to navigate my way to your page and the thread. I kept falling down rabbit holes and like 'Shutes and Ladders' was still in the game and on the familiar path; just somewhere else. Small talk really isn't my strong point. I'm hailing from Forest Grove, OR; about 25 minutes West of downtown Portland OR, where are you from? Before I go I don't want to leave you hanging, thank you for finding something enjoyable about the posts I left; although the notifications only mention you 'liked' it and so I don't know what part(s). Finally, I have to agree that punctuation in poetry is blurry and often too broad an application to pinpoint the pattern. There the poems are divided in categories: 'poëzie' (poetry from historic authors), 'gedichten' (poems considered of poetic quality by the editors of the website), netgedichten (poems written and contributed by people with an account for the website) and 'hartenkreten' (poetic disclosures of emotions). Also this site has the category 'snelsonnet', used for comments on current affairs in a sonnet of six lines. The categories each have a Top-5 that shows the 5 with highest number of views and highest number of review stars per period.more »LikeReplyReport 711 months agoclare_lI'm new here! I wrote it some time ago, but a new development has added new meaning that parallels my current situation. I thought that made it interesting enough to share. There are several underlying themes, but mainly I'd say it's about existence and mortality, god and science. Just wondering how I connect it to my page?LikeReplyReport1 year ago4zebra2uHi I'm new here but not new to poetry, poetry platforms , both passive and interactive, being published and participating in over a hundred workshops. On that basis I do have some thoughts for what its worth in terms of your desire to create more dynamic engagement, relevance and expansion. I notice that with in a split second of posting a poem I have been favorited. I love attention but what does it mean if it is produced by a algorithm, and my fan is a cyborg? Do you think this site needs to create frequent and real interaction? Everyone wants attention, to be read and to be read by someone they respect and whos opinion strikes a chord and that they TRUST. One of the challenges of workshops is that there's lots of inexperienced writers critiquing each other. Its improbable that much is gained except frustration under those circumstances, although being favorited or kind comments by another is always encouraging. So the question remains how to create a structure to accomplish this if you want it? Nothing is easy, nothing is perfect. How does one hear criticism without feeling discouraged? Every light casts a shadow, yet with out dynamic interaction and those points of illumination there is only posting into a void and the emotional emptiness that comes with it. Perhaps these are something's you are already thinking about?Best Zmore »LikeReplyReport 21 year agoJhainDohHey love I just wanna say welcome.
