In each winery we had a chance to explore how the wines were made, each step... read more of the way, starting with the grapes in the field and ending with the bottling. Virginia was very knowledgeable and explained to us in great detail how the wine was made, and especially, how it was made differently in the Valpolicella region compared to anywhere else in the world. She also explained the local wine culture, and how it compares to other places in the world. The trip included tasting of wines from each winery. We discovered that, while we were fans of Valpolicella wines before, the ones from these wineries were head and shoulders above everything else we tried previously. It was also very interesting that the wines from these wineries were very different to each other, which proved to be a highlight of the trip. The tour was wonderful, and we remained fans of the wineries, as they produced some of the best wine we ever tried anywhere in the world. We would highly recommend the tour to anyone passionate about winetasting, and we would highly recommend Mrs. Virginia Conta from the Romeo and Juliet Guide Wine Tours as the guide for this tour or any other tour, as she has been an excellent guide and host. We thought we liked Amarone wines, but we can't even compare the Amarones we have had in the past, to the ones we tasted on this tour. All 3 wineries had amazing wines. You just can't compare them to the commercial ones that get exported. If we had not been on this tour, we would have never discovered these small wineries. Not only are the wines delicious, but the prices are so much more reasonable. It's definitely worth it to ship some home, and Virgina did a wonderful job organizing that for us as well.
