This Monday, November 16th evening march and rally is in addition to our Trans Day of Remembrance set to happen on Friday, November 20th.   This year has been a tough one, and we have lost too many of our family. On top of unjust and violent murders, we are also experiencing a global pandemic that has affected our communities in great numbers, and we have lost great leaders to natural causes as well.   We know that the grieving process is different for everyone, and that many of our families choose to celebrate the lives of those who left us. So, in an effort to heal together, we want to invite you to celebrate the lives of the people who we have lost and remember them as we continue to fight for the right to live happy, fruitful lives without constant discrimination and violence.   We will be meeting in front of City Hall and hearing speeches from local leaders. Afterwards, we will march to the historic Transgender District at the corner of Turk and Taylor for more speeches and some music as our closing ceremony.   With all that being said, we are putting the health and safety of our community first and encourage all attendees to do the same.We are requiring all attendees to wear a mask and social distance at all times during the event. If on the day of the rally you are showing any of the following symptoms:CoughFever or chillsShortness of breath or difficulty breathingFatigueMuscle or body achesHeadacheNew loss of taste or smellSore throatCongestion or runny noseNausea or vomitingDiarrhea–or think you may have been exposed to Covid-19 —We kindly ask you to stay home and take care!(We will also try to livestream the event so check in here for updates)Event outline – subject to change –6:00pm – Gather in front of City Hall6:30pm – Speakers (TBA)7:00pm – March to Turk and Taylor7:45pm – Closing speeches8:00pm – Music and communityIf you would like to support our event please feel free to dm Rexy Tapia. in-person 2019 Transgender Day of RemembranceNovember 20, 2019Written by Eden Leave a Comment TDoR SF – 2019 Trans Day of Remembrance  #NotOneMoreWednesday, November 20th, 2019.5:30pm – 6:00pm/Candlelight Vigil, then March, from San Francisco City Hall, 1 block, to UC Hastings (We anticipate/hope for rain. The government in power in Washington DC tried to “erase” us, by removing transgender people’s equal access to health care, housing, education and fair treatment under the law. But TDoR specifically addresses the deaths of trans folk. Despite increased visibility, trans people continue to be murdered in unprecedented numbers, and trans women of color are bearing the brunt of it. As of mid-October 2018, 22 homicides of trans Americans have been reported here in the United States. This is not acceptable.TDoR is brought to you by a volunteer planning team and community partners including:SFCHC – San Francisco Community Health Center – www.SFCommunityHealth.comSan Francisco Office of Transgender Initiatives – sf-hrc.org/lgbt-advisory-committee-lgbtacOpenhouse San Francisco – www.openhouse-sf.orgEl/La Para TransLatinas – ellaparatranslatinas.yolasite.comSan Francisco Department of Public Health – www.SFDPH.orgTGSF/GNCSF – Transgender and GNC, San Francisco TGSF.org = GNCSF.comand others.Asia SFFLUXLyon Martin Clinic– Health Right 360National Center for Lesbian Rights ( NCLR)San Francisco AIDS FoundationSan Francisco PrideSF Transgender Empowerment Advocacy Mentorship Program( SF TEAM)ShantiSt. James Infirmary ClinicTrans March SFTrans ThriveFresh Meat ProductionsSan Francisco Gender Confirmation CenterTransgender Law CenterUCSF Center of Excellence for Transgender HealthVolunteers are recruited and organized by The SF LGBT Center.Together we can put an end to the violence against trans people!TDoR is a genuine tribute to those who have lost their lives to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.
