Murrow Award The annual Edward R. Murrow Award recently recognized the work of Webster media literacy instructor, Julie Smith, and KMOX reporter, Megan Lynch, entitled the "KMOX Media Literacy Project" a multi-layered approach to introducing media literacy skills. Michael R. Hulsizer Named Dean of College of Science and Health Effective June 1, Michael R. Hulsizer, a professor and former chair of the department of psychology, will become dean of the newly formed College of Science and Health. Webster Named to Transfer Honor Roll for the Sixth Consecutive Year Webster University was named to the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll for the sixth year in a row. The Honor Roll recognizes colleges and universities in North America that offer additional support and services to college students who transfer from a community college into a four-year program. Chess Team Finishes Season with Strong Performance at National Championship Webster’s Chess Team did not lose a single round during the annual President’s Cup Collegiate Chess Championship – it won one and tied the other two - but was edged out of an overall win byone-half pointdue to fewer draws early in the tournament. Webster to Launch College of Humanities and Social Sciences The College of Humanities and Social Sciences will launch on June 1 to bring together Webster’s core humanities and social science programs in a single college, providing students and faculty members greater opportunities to collaborate. Webster University Launches College of Science and Health Webster's new College of Science and Health, launching June 1, will strengthen the collaboration and resources available to the University's health- and science-related academic units, enhancing its ability to respond to employers’ emerging needs and prepare students for careers in health and sciences. Sverdrup West Wing Remodeling Begins Webster has begun remodeling the Sverdrup west wing, adding cutting-edge labs, equipment, and collaborative spaces for the School of Communications. Webster’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts Named in Honor of Peter Sargent Webster University has renamed its nationally renowned Conservatory of Theatre Arts in honor of the late Peter Sargent, founding dean of the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts. Supporters, members of Sargent's family and Webster alumni celebrated the Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at a recent event in Webster's Loretto-Hilton Center. Webster Ranked 16th in Midwest, Scores All-Time High on U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges List Webster University was listed at #16 on the 2022 Regional University - Midwest list, and was included in four best-of categories. Webster Senior Wins Golf National Championship Senior All-American Will Hocker won the 2021 NCAA Division III National Championship in golf, the first Webster University student-athlete to win an individual national title in any athletics field.
