A Closer Look On the Farm Update: PFAS in Maine The prevalence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) has recently been in the news, creating increasing uncertainty for many farmers. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is on the leading edge of identifying and addressing this national issue.Wolfe’s Neck Center was a site identified for likely contamination. However, when the State started investigating this issue in 2019, Wolfe’s Neck Center worked with the State DEP to rigorously test our soil, water, and milk to protect our community. The results indicated the PFAS levels were not a concern in the water, soil, or dairy.
