There are two Pilot AMI Diploma Trainings launching. One at Hershey Farm School and one in Sweden. Each of these trainings will have 3 parts:Part 1:Summer 2020:Foundations in Montessori theory; Montessori theory and key experiences for 12-18; generating frameworks for study and work; preparation for observation, practice teaching and literature review.Part 2: Interim Academic Year: Observation, practice teaching, independent work, literature review.Part 3: Summer 2021: Deepening understanding of the development of 12-18-year-olds; refining understanding of Montessori pedagogy; presentation of observation and practice teaching insights; presentation of literature review; coached independent work on frameworks; workshops on practical concerns; written and oral examinations.Please visit each location websites directly for more specific information. In addition to the Pilot Diploma Courses, there are a number of other Professional Development workshops that could be valuable to you or your staff, including the AMI Adolescent Introductory Workshop and new AMI Orientation certificate courses. Learn more I have already taken the Orientation; what other requirements will I need to complete the diploma? AMI is granting all those who have completed an approved Orientation to Adolescent Studies, and have at least 5 years of working with adolescents, a full AMI 12-18 Diploma.Those interested in upgrading your Orientation Certificate to a Diploma can submit a request to AMI using the following form: **The issuance of these diplomas will coincide with the graduation of the first Pilot Diploma courses.**Will distance learning be a part of the AMI diploma Course?Both summers will have onsite requirements. Your interim academic year will be completed offsite. During this time, participants will be completing independent work, online meetings, observations, and practice teaching that will fulfill requirements for Part III of the Diploma requirements. Can I register for only 1 portion of the Training at a time? Similar to other levels of training, participants need to be present for the entire duration of the course. Will the AMI Adolescent diploma be MACTE accredited? At this time, the AMI Adolescent Diploma course is not MACTE accredited. Similar to other training centers, MACTE accreditation will be specific to the location that the training is being offered. Is NAMTA or Great Work, Inc. still running all of the Trainings?No. AMI has adopted the core aspects of the AMI 12-18 Diploma Training and oversees individuals and institutions qualified to operate training. AMI is excited to be pioneering a new AMI Diploma Course for those wishing to work withAdolescents in schools. This course has evolved from the original NAMTA/AMI Orientations. We are also developing new Adolescent Introductory Workshops of approximately 4-5 days duration, to provide an overview of the Thrid Plane. We are therefore seeking experienced individuals who are interested in becoming part of and/or training to become part of the training teams needed to deliver both the above courses globally. AMI is looking for participants from all parts of the world who can demonstrate experience in Montessori Adolescent programmes of any affiliation and who would like to join us in this exciting new venture.
